Euroins insurance JSC supported the seventh edition of Sofia Ekiden Marathon 2021

On September 6th  in Sofia, for the seventh consecutive year was held Ekiden (relay-race) marathon, organized by the Youth Sports Club "Sofia - Europe".

On the day we celebrate the Union of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia, nearly 60 teams and over 280 runners took part in the relay-race marathon. The competition was held under the patronage of the Japanese Embassy in Bulgaria, and the start of the competition was given by His Excellency Hiroshi Narahira.

"Sofia Ekiden Marathon" is held to promote the relay-race in Bulgaria. It is called the "Ekiden" marathon from the Japanese characters "eki" - point, and "day" - transmission, and supports the team spirit and game. Relay marathons are extremely emotional and are one of the most popular competitions in the world of athletics. In different countries these races have different names, but the organizers of the Bulgarian race prefer the classic "Ekiden" - as a sign of respect for the Japanese tradition. For the first time a relay marathon is held in Japan.
