Euroins Supports the Twelfth Edition of the Sofia Ekiden Marathon 2026

On September 6, 2026, for the twelfth consecutive year, Euroins will support the Sofia Ekiden Marathon 2026, organized by the Youth Sports Club “Sport for All – Sofia in Europe” with the assistance of the Sofia, European Capital of Sport Foundation.

As is tradition, the marathon's start and finish lines will be located in front of the Vasil Levski National Stadium, at the intersection of Evlogi and Hristo Georgievi Boulevard and Gurko Street. The race is a team relay event, with each team consisting of six participants competing in six categories. Together, they will cover the classic marathon distance of 42.195 km, divided into relay legs of 5 km + 10 km + 5 km + 10 km + 5 km + 7.195 km. The event is licensed by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), and the Sofia course meets all required international standards.

The Sofia Ekiden Marathon is organized with the aim of promoting road relay running in Bulgaria. Relay marathons are highly emotional and among the most popular athletics competitions worldwide. While these races are known by different names in different countries, the organizers of the Bulgarian event have chosen to retain the traditional term “Ekiden” as a sign of respect for the Japanese tradition from which the format originates.
