Euroins supported the "Golden Spike" athletics tournament in Sliven

On July 15th, 2023, in the city of Sliven, with the support of Euroins, the "Golden Spike" athletics tournament was held in memory of the European champion in the 3000 meters steeplechase, Mikhail Zhelev. Over 200 participants in various age groups took part in the event, competing in races from 800m to 5000m and shot put.

During the tournament, a commemorative plaque with the face of Mikhail Zhelev, who in 1968 placed sixth in the 3000 m steeplechase at the Olympic Games in Mexico, and in 1969 became the European champion in this discipline, was unveiled. Zhelev also participated in the Olympic Games in Munich 1972 and took 12th position. His national record in the 3000m steeplechase stood for 45 years.

The initiative to organize the "Golden Spike" tournament belongs to the family of the great athlete, which is also closely related to athletics, and the realization of the tournament was supported by the municipality of Sliven, the athletic club "Mikhail Zhelev" and Euroins.
