"It can be said that in recent years there has been a trend of gradually increasing the share of this type of insurance. The increase in demand is happening at a slow pace, which is inexplicable given the increasingly severe events in recent years, also taking into account the sudden and rapid changes in the climate," commented Kristina Deneva.
She explained that crops are insured based on the invested funds for agronomic activities, such as soil cultivation, fertilization, and others for the production of crops from 1 decare. These insurances are seasonal and are concluded according to the vegetation and growing periods of different types of crops.
During the "hail season," Kristina Deneva advised farmers not to skimp on insurance, especially if their production is outdoors.
"Insurance is a preventive measure that allows agricultural producers to significantly reduce their losses due to the occurrence of risk events in their managed farms," Deneva stated.
According to her, farmers can participate in various state aid schemes through the Agricultural Fund, and from this year, the percentage of co-financing of the insurance premium has been increased.
