Insurance company Euroins and the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) will collaborate to support students who are just starting their professional careers. At the end of November, the insurer and the university signed a Memorandum of Understanding, under which Euroins will support the university with practical training, the involvement of industry experts in the educational process, as well as joint initiatives in insurance, risk management, and financial services.

Together for a Future Career

“As part of their collaboration, UNWE and Euroins Insurance Company will provide opportunities for student internships and practical training, involve experts from both institutions as guest lecturers in the educational process, and organize joint courses, workshops, and certification programs on topics such as cyber risks, digital transformation, sustainable development, and other current fields,” commented Iva Falina, Executive Director of Euroins Insurance Group.

UNWE Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov described Euroins as a particularly valuable partner for the university in working with companies and organizations that help develop practical skills among students. He emphasized that, together with the company, they will organize internships, practical trainings, and projects, providing students with real-world experience and the opportunity to become familiar with the professional environment.

“This helps students navigate the business world, acquire practical skills, and develop their potential, which motivates them and increases their interest in professional development,” said Prof. Dimitrov.

Student of the Year

As part of the collaboration between the UNWE Student Council and Euroins, Yoanna Tsoneva, Chairperson of the company’s Board of Directors, was an official guest at the UNWE Student of the Year 2025 ceremony, held on November 25 in the “Maxima” Aula at UNWE. For the 13th consecutive year, the UNWE Student Council recognized the university’s most outstanding students in several categories. Ms. Tsoneva presented the award in the “Volunteer” category to Vanessa Filipova, a Bachelor’s student in Law. Vanessa received the award for her volunteer work and active participation in promoting road safety.

“I highly welcome such initiatives, because people need to have goals and ideas about what they want to achieve, so that they can realize what they strive for. Our business — insurance — is perhaps one of the most supportive sectors across all areas of the economy. Being a volunteer means giving a part of yourself,” commented Ms. Tsoneva.

From the Classroom to Practice

UNWE is one of the oldest educational institutions in Bulgaria preparing professionals for the insurance industry. The university actively collaborates with the business sector to strengthen the practical orientation of education, and it is not uncommon for insurance companies to recruit employees straight from the student bench. As part of this collaboration, the university and representatives of the insurance company have already held two meetings to exchange experiences and ideas.

On November 21, fourth-year students in the “Insurance and Social Work” program participated in a workshop titled “Insure Your Future with Euroins.” The workshop included Gergana Dimova, Head of Human Resources at the insurance company, Nikolay Georgiev, actuary, and Hristo Emilov, Claims Expert in Motor Insurance.

Euroins representatives discussed career opportunities in the insurance sector and the company’s initiatives supporting road safety. Nikolay Georgiev, who started at Euroins less than two years ago as an intern, shared his experience: “It was very interesting for me at the beginning when I started, realizing that insurance is actually much more global.”

Due to high interest, on December 4, students from the “Human Resources Economics” program visited Euroins’ headquarters to see the practical side of what they study. Together with Assoc. Prof. Galina Dimitrova, the students met with Gergana Dimova, Hristo Emilov, and Petyo Uzunov, Chief Motor Insurance Expert. They showed the students what working in an insurance company looks like in practice, and the discussion again touched on road safety — a topic Euroins has embraced as its mission. The students were particularly interested in motor insurance and career opportunities within the company. Gergana Dimova emphasized that Euroins is a growing business and a stable employer where talented employees can develop their careers.

“In recent years, Euroins has actively supported young and ambitious people. Thanks to the successful partnership between UNWE and our company, many university interns have started their professional careers with us. At Euroins, we believe that the key to success is the combination of experience and the energy of the new generation. We thank the university leadership and the UNWE Student Council for creating excellent conditions for interaction between students and businesses,” commented Miglena Zhoteva, Digital Marketing Manager at Euroins.
